New-Age Sports Betting

New-Age Sports Betting

Not many years ago – I was still a child – talking about gambling made people think of either the neon lights of casinos or of old men on racetracks trying to find the right horse to throw their money at. The world of sport bets was a somewhat dark one. With the eradication of sports bookers from all States in the US except Nevada, serious sports gamblers would have to resort to black market bookers. And Hollywood has exploited and exacerbated the dark side of betting with several movie characters that were hooked to the thrill of illegal gambling.

On to shed some light in this process came the Internet – an unlikely White Knight. But the truth is online betting, at first heavily frowned upon and fought against with a passion by both politicians and common public alike, has brought some dignity to gambling in general. Senate and government laws around the World have found a way to control gambling through the Internet and now it seems like everybody’s pleased.

Basketball betting is no exception to this rule. I’ve heard many people complain that they wish it were so easy to bet online when the Bulls were dominating the NBA, but maybe the fact that it’s not so easy to predict who’s going to win is what’s making betting so popular. Now couch and coffee table experts on the game have the chance to put their money where their mouth is, and maybe even make some money in the process.
