The History of the Lottery

It all began in the early 1800s when private lotteries were legal in the United States. At this time various patents were granted that today would be seen as business method patents. Many illegal lotteries were popular before the start of the state-sponsored lotteries were introduces. Ttoday, lotteries are found in 42 states with Arkansas’s general election vote being approved in 2008.
The Big Game began in 1996 by the states of Georgia, Illinois, Massachusetts, Maryland and Michigan and is now better known as the Mega Millions. Another huge source of state lottery revenues are from the scratch cards which began in the 1970′s. Then we saw the arrival of the internet generated websites who offered lottery-style online games and some can be played for free.
Lottery games are generally less restrictive and so more web sites are now offering lottery services. But in the U.S, these services fall into question since the growth of technology is past the gambling laws for lottery play. The public education system in the U.S. today gains benefits from the donations coming from lotteries, unfortunately they replace missing funds, they don’t give more.
